how come?

Although it really does pains me to say it, AMD device will offer smoother gaming experience in this instance. Intel GPUs occasionally require things like Vulkan translation layer added to games for smoother experience.

The RX 6600 is a simpler buy, a more consistent performer across a wide variety of games/generations and has significantly lower power draw (both idle and under load).

The A580 has a superior feature set, e.g. better ray tracing, AI performance and AV1 encoding.

The deficiencies of the RX 6600 are all fixed in the newer version (RX 7600), but realistically they're not important to the average gamer and the A580 is just too slow for me to care about ray tracing.

I'd consider if you want the novelty of being an Arc user over the predictability of the 6600, but be aware this is a first generation card and it comes with a headache. You must also ensure that the motherboard enables rebar or the performance is very poor.

Not very many games require this, but if you’re playing anything other than mainstream fairly current games, and this is your first foray into custom PCs and such, just go with the RX 6600 because it’ll just work.

thank you

ig the hassle of arc is not worth the 30 pounds saved then

im a rookie, waht does this mean?

This is why you shouldn't be looking at Arc, frankly. If you're not already aware of the potential finickiness with Arc and some games, you are better off sticking with something more traditional that works.

ok lol

idc abt ray tracing anyways tbh

Yeah, it is really a $500+ feature, in my opinion.

I forgot to mention one other thing, Arc gets faster at higher resolutions, for example, from TPU's review results for Arc:

- (1080p) RX 6600 100%, Arc A580 97.8%

- (1440p) RX 6600 94.5%, Arc A580 100%

- (4K) RX 6600 82.5%, Arc A580 100%

While for the most part, neither of these cards is really suitable for 1440p or 4K in modern games, it can be something to consider (if you do have a high res monitor).

I have an RX6600 in a PC here connected to a 3440x1440 display and its an impressive little thing. Its amazing what you can do with FSR/RSR. (though that's much less important at 1080p native)
