So this my current build, i3-4150 and GTX 960 (full specs in sig)

post-168944-0-54724900-1442794347_thumb.

In just a few weeks it'll be my seventeenth birthday, for which I will be receiving a G1 Gaming GTX 970, I will then sell my 960 and buy a Corsair RM650i. After I get my new PSU I will then be selling my old power supply, and processor and then with a few extra bucks pick up a i5-4690k from Micro Center. Then, two months from now it'll be Christmas and hopefully I can convince my family to give my socks, underwear, and cash and I'll be picking up another GTX 970. Brace yourselves high frame rates are coming.

TBC, follow this topic if you want to see the epic conclusion!

I'm looking forward to this, best of luck with the upgrade!

I'm going to be adding a 980 Ti to my system (currently have 2 660 Ti's) so I'll be going through a similar process  :P

Why a RM650i? Isn't it like $130? You could get a EVGA 850w GS for $100-$130

It's gonna be awesome, just hopefully I'll be able to sell all the things I want to :P I can't wait to finally have a processor I can overclock again. I've had this i3 for almost a year now and I miss being able to overclock my Pentium.

EVGA GS has a 10 year warrenty and is just as good. What Features? Power supplys do not offers features.

Support for Corsair Link, the CableMod cables I want (and yes I know CableMod makes cables for the EVGA ones too), the Fanless (silent) Mode, Gold Rated Efficiency. Personally one of the reasons why I'm not going with an EVGA power supply is because I don't like how they look. I think they're quite ugly honestly.

That is a stupid reason :/. It is an overpriced power supply. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220gs0850v1 Will get you much more for your money. The GS also comes with a silent mode.

I know it's a stupid reason and while it is a bit overpriced I love the power supply and it's got everything I want.

Only able to get a 970 because I'm opting for no party. Also I might end up buying the 970 myself from money gifted from my birthday, not a direct gift :P

No, I agree I should go with the EVGA one but the Corsair one is so pretty. I'm at the point where I'm already spending money so I might as well get something really nice looking.

So does the EVGA GS and more? Also this power supply supports SeaSonic KM3 cablemods since it is the exact same power supply.

Nothing a bit of plastidip and stencils cannot fix :). Could even add your name in it's own font, use plastidip so if you ever need to RMA it just peel the plastidip off.

It's more than the color, it's the finish, the indents and such. I may end up building a PSU shroud before I do the upgrades and if I do I'll get the EVGA one but otherwise I'm set on the Corsair RM650i.

You see, my PC is seated right next to my monitor, and I spend a lot of time looking into it and admiring it. If there's something small that I don't like it'll drive me crazy. It's one of the main reasons I bought more RAM, the two empty slots looked odd and I thought hey why not? I could always use more.

Is it bad that I asked for computer parts instead of a graduation party?

No, I'm gonna do the same. Unless I win the Ultrawide Festival. If I do, I'll literally cry.

If you're getting the money for the 970 and not the 970 itself, why not upgrade the CPU now to a 4690k, save your money up, and then buy a 980 Ti with your Christmas money plus the $130 left over from getting the CPU instead plus the money you get for your i3 minus whatever you pay for your RM650? Because the 980 Ti will use less power, your case temperatures will be better, and you don't have to screw around with SLI. Not saying that SLI 970 isn't awesome, but for the money I'd rather have a single 980 Ti. Especially since your case looks a little small for SLI unless you go for the horribly overpriced Best Buy reference 970 blowers and since 650W is a little on the low side for running dual 970 and a heavily overclocked 4690k (which I assume you're looking to do with a highend AIO attached to it).
