Help with POE on EdgeRouter

Bech

Hallo

I have some trouble getting POE to work with my new network setup.

Equipment:
Ubiquiti Edge Router POE
2 x Cisco WAP371-E-K9 Access Point

I can not find anything in the setup or manual of the Cisco AP that something need to be setup to support POE.
in my router I setup POE 24v for eathernet port 3 where my AP is connected to, but nothing happens with my AP.

Anybody have an idea of what is wrong?

Unfortunately I do not have a poe injector I can for testing

I found this thread on the ubiquiti community:

https://community.ubnt.com/t5/EdgeMAX/802-3at-af-compliance-for-EdgeRouter-PoE/td-p/1091185

Im not sure what the POE function in the router can be used for. maby it will work with there own AP.

So im not sure it will ever work, I am considering buying a POW switch.

As it says, its only passive PoE, 802.3af mode B, meaning that you cannot use the router with your AP, as it is 802.3af mode A.

You will need to get a PoE injector (remember to turn PoE off on the router before you plug in the injector) or a 802.3af mode A compliant PoE switch :)

Another issue happening here is that 802.3af/at is normally in the 48-60V range (depnding on the measured length and power loss of the ethernet cable) and the EdgeRouter only appears to do 24V

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:
