Hello there LTT, I'm John (yes) from the Philippines. 22 y.o.

I'm not sure why I did not do this sooner. I think I was too lazy to register to forums and stuff.
I've researched for MONTHSSS now (this is what you do when you don't have the money and is still saving up)

Before I give you the build, dot points first:

1. Budget & Location
Budget is about 35,000PhP which roughly translates to 750$. I'm from the Philippines.

2. Aim
LoL, HotS mostly. But I want to be able to play all the "old" games on MAXIMUM settings.
Games List:
PoP series
AC series
BioShock series
Fallout series
other "newer" single players here and there like The Last of Us, Skyrim etc. etc.
Also, if it's possible, I would like to multitask while playing (e.g converting audio from movies from DTS to DD5.1)

The goal here is a starter build where I can get a taste of overclocking, but on a budget.
I have no need for performance upgradeability as I plan on building another PC about a year from now.
Most of the upgrades I will be doing on this would storage and aesthetics which is excluded from the current budget.
Also, I like beauty (who doesn't)

3. Monitors
1x basic 1080p 20-21.5" Monitor

to follow, computer table limits me to 21W x 15H

4. Peripherals
1 x DeathAdder 1800

1 x DeathStalker Essentials

to follow:

HyperX Cloud

Mechanical KB

Procie: G3258 - FINAL (please, just, stop, convincing me otherwise)
Upgradeability to a LOCKED i5 or i7 is an option (but this is as needed)

MoBo: ASUS H97M-PLUS
Case: BitFenix Prodigy M
GPU: Sapphire Nitro 4GB R9 380
PSU: SeaSonic M12II 520W
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO
CPU Cooler: Hyper 212x - may change because it's fugly
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB 1600 MHz
FANS: 2 x Scythe GT 1850rpm - will push/pull this on the 212x, and put the 212x stock fan at rear exhaust, then the included Spectre Pros on top intake, lastly bottom slots are shielded (provided heatshield).

Update after 3 months:
So yeah i think i just finalized my build woooo. Will buy these next week.

it's like every other week i check my build plan and the prices, i instantly change my mind on the board.

I second Kratzos, I have not slept for about 4 days, and might recommend using a car battery for your power supply or something.

Good luck m8, and welcome to the world of PC building, and this forum :)

That processor is way better than the G3258 for gaming :/ You dont really need an overclockable processor. I'll see If i could get a decent mATX case,

Yeap it is on my current choices. But I may go higher, 960 maybe. Or red team cards.

If your gonna do a new one in a year I would go with an A10 APU and shoot for a 300 dollar tag, have a blast overclocking it, then use it as an htpc a year from now. I will also make a good test bench when you get the dGPU for next years build.

THAT'S A 950, that's a typo. omg. ahahahaha

My pricelist doesnt have the hyper212 yet but it costs about 30$ here.

NOT EVEN CLOSE BAYBEHHHH ahahahaha for a minute there I actually thought I can go with an i5. #sad

EDIT: This is actually a good idea though. With a few shaves and cleanups on other components, I think can be doable. I'll recheck pricing (and maybe pre-owned stuff) and give you an update by tomorrow (about 36hrs from now AHAHAHAHA)

Go with the i5+GTX 950.

I'm still contemplating this.I'm still not 100% convinced by the i5. Although I know that it is much, much, muchx999 better than a G3258.

I might go with the G3258 on the Z97m. and just upgrade to an i5/i7 IF needed.

This taxes me in terms of performance, but at least I'll be able to keep that socket open for upgrades. (which is probably stupid coz my next build would be skylake)

With an H81, there's really not much to go on.

Also, the Z97M anniversary is specially made (or at least marketed) for the G3258.

As of the moment, IMO, the only advantage of getting the i5 is that I won't need to rush a dGPU as the iGPU can handle LoL on decent settings.

This is at least, for my needs.

Also, if I get the i5, I might not be able to "batch-buy" the components. I might have to forgo the GPU until

At least Ill keep that socket open for upgrades instead of using an H81 board which is virtually useless to put an i5/i7 K procie on.

I might lose some bucks by doing so, but at least I would have had the fun of playing russian roulette with the G3258.

Thanks @Kratzos. Ill update the original post. Will update this thread again next month on what I've decided to do.

Current decision level on each choice: 60% - G3258, 40% - i5

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

If I jump straight to Skylake, I won't be able to sustain myself and those who I am responsible for.

I thought "Why not just save up a sh*tton of money and just buy a god-build that I am actually happy with"

But that would take me YEEEEARSSS.
