  1. It seems to flat out crash when I apply 1.315v but at 1.3v it SOMETIMES boots and I've had an instance where Windows just freezes but I can move the cursor. No BSOD whatsoever. 1.2v seems to be way more stable.
  2. So I've somehow degraded my 5800X to the point where it outright crashes on boot with absolute stock settings unless I undervolt it by setting it to run at 4.5Ghz@1.2v and it runs fine that way and passes stress tests. I've isolated this as a CPU issue as it behaves the exact same way in an entirely different system and I could replicate the crashes on the Windows 11 installation boot screen where it just freezes and Linux where it freezes on a random line in the verbose booting process. All work well when the undervolt is applied. Playing with PBO & CO didn't seem to help. I'm not even sure how this happened as I kept it at stock for the 3.5 years I've had it. BIOS has been updated to the latest and I've spent hours performing every single troubleshooting step I know of. Anyway, I'm looking for advice on how to move forward with this and to be honest, I'm really not enthused about upgrading/replacing the CPU as I mostly play at 4K and most of my games are GPU bound and yes I'm aware that CPU's play a role in 1% and 0.1% lows even at 4K, but I haven't run into a scenario that makes me want to upgrade. I've had people recommend buying a 5700X3D from Aliexpress on the cheap and honestly I'm on the verge of doing so but I'd like to explore more options or potentially upgrade to AM5 with the upcoming 9800X3D. Would love to hear more opinions on this. Thank you.
  3. Would it be better if I return it and get the RM850x instead? I'm in a position where I can only return sealed boxed items (I'm not in the US). Warranty will be a bit more complicated.
  4. So yesterday I bought a Strix 850G White Edition so I can use my existing TX-M 750W in another build without buying a cheap PSU. The intention was to get a RM850x 2018-2021 model but somehow I came home with a ROG Strix 850G since I saw that it's a Tier A PSU. From my understanding, it's a rebranded Seasonic Focus PSU which is good but it also has problems with the 30-series cards. I've also scouted Reddit for info and saw someone mentioning that certain ROG Strix units were based on the older problematic Seasonics. Is there a way to know if my unit is affected? I'm starting to regret my choice and I'm wondering if I should return it for the white RM850x which is $15 cheaper than the Strix 850G White where I live. I still haven't unboxed the ROG Strix. Here's what the PSU is supposed to power: AMD Ryzen 5900X Crosshair VI Hero EVGA 3080 Ti FTW3 2 TB WD Black SN850 Nvme ROG Strix Helios
  5. Hi. So my Zotac 2080 Amp Edition fans started making this buzzing sound and give out this weird smell that goes away (both sound and smell) after a couple of minutes or if I go on MSI Afterburner and momentarily increase fan speed to 100% and change it back to auto, it goes away that way too. It only happens when I start or restart my PC. I can leave it on for days and the fans wont make any sound and behave normally. I've noticed that only the middle fan does this and I'm not sure if it's the fan or something else going on in the GPU given the smell that accompanies the buzzing sound. It smells like medicine or something akin to that, it's kind of hard to describe to be honest. Does anyone what causes this? Especially the weird smell. Thank you.
  6. Dude, just use eBay... I bought mine from there.
  7. This happened to me twice this month. The orders were delayed and exceeded their estimated delivery date. Chat support explicitly said "keep the items" as a compensation for the waiting time. I didn't even ask for it, just caught me by surprise. You might get the same treatment if your order was late.
  8. Hows your RTX 2080 pair with your OC'd 1700?

  9. I believe the components used in Alienware desktops are proprietary. I've dealt with them before and they tend to use the cheapest and most basic components, but they work. GPU is most likely a blower-style but it should be enough for the 2070S. Upgradability is a hit or miss, really. You should be able to fit in a graphics card as long as you keep the size of the unit itself is mind, as it may or may not fit inside the case.
  10. Looks like a faulty monitor. Return it.
  11. OT but, can I buy it?
  12. Are you okay? That sounds very immature. Just report him and be on your way, having 7 dislikes is nothing.
  13. To all the "get a job" posts, I'd like to say that it's really not that easy for someone his age to get a job in Kuwait. Actually it's close to impossible, unless you sell sunflower seeds on the streets in hot temperatures (30-40 degrees) but even then it'd take years before he'd be able to make that much. Also, expats barely make any money (significant amount I mean) and sometimes live paycheck to paycheck to pay for rent (which is expensive as fuck by the way), bills and sending money to their families back home. OP, I suggest waiting it out. I'm sure your parents aren't just sitting on money and not buying you anything. It's just circumstances.
  14. Probably my CPU, but at the moment I find it hard justifying 1700X > 3700X/3800X. Also thinking of getting a 32" 4K monitor.
  15. I'm so glad I'm not the only one with the exact same opinion regarding the hygiene. I had to wait in queues for 3-4 hours each and the smell was so horrible. Thursday wasn't so bad as I went in as soon as it opened and didn't wait for long. I mainly went for Hall 9 (Square Enix) to play the FF VII Remake and get the shirts from the FFXIV battle challenges (which was awesome btw). Otherwise, the rest are boring. You wait in a 5h+ queue at the Cyberpunk booth to watch a demo that you can't even play.
