Dolphin emulators

Hey, I'm new to emulators and wanted to try out Dolphin. The game I want to emulate was Smash brothers Melee and Brawl. I have physical copy of both, so its legal right? I tryed to download a rom, but I got a virus. Its gone now but I'm scared to download roms now. Thanks for any advice

last I tried it SSB (any of them) it didnt run well on dolphin ...its playable but its not close to the console experience.

First of all the legalities are usually decided case by case because of "Special Exceptions" aka actually owning it, having affiliation with the game, etc.  For the most part it's legal, in a sense.  ROM's aren't completely legal in the first place but no harm can be done if you already own the game.  Just be careful of pixel cancer, it sounds like you could have gotten a Trojan(not a condom)

its alot better now with the new dolphin version, just has afew slowdowns now an then and a couple of glitches but its playable,. they made some great strides with that emu.

 

but again you will need a decent cpu to run it well.

Anyways this isnt a white and black kinda answer it differs from region to region.

SSB Runs just fine for me on Dolphin, read the performance guide on their wiki for optimization. If you have a Core i5 + a Nvidia gpu (any gpu as good as or better than a gtx650 if i remember correctly.) Then you should have no problem playing even Wii games. AMD cpu/gpus don't run as well but recent patches have made it better (developer builds)

Can't really discuss it.... I can't really remember it being difficult if you're planning to emulate a lot of consoles I would recommend launch box :

How do I delete this post. I don't really want to do anything ilegal. I thought that I bought the game once I should be able to use it on a different platform

how is launchbox man? looks really nice, you have any problems with it?

I was emulating Dolphin on my i5 760, sadly it ran like crap but PCSX2 ran like a dream, it made no sense, I am sure once I start usin gmy SL i7 machine everything will be playable with Dolphin... gotta wait till Monday for the SS X series PSU and case.

They recommend a second gen i5 or better, and a nvidia 650+ if i remember correctly. Some games also just plain run like crap also.

You can get the ROM the same way most people get Music, the chances of getting a virus is just something u have to deal with like anyone downloading from the web.

 

You can search Google for websites dedicated to ROM's/ISO's, or you can use the in famous torrent site which shall remain nameless "chop of one head, two more shall take its place" *hint hint*. or any other Torrent site with active comments on the torrent ur interested in (so u can see what other people have said about the download ..i.e viruses, if its fake, how well it works etc)
