So, this is my first time recording with OBS, and it really bugs me that there's a black bar at the bottom of my screen.

I can only assume that's my taskbar, but how do I get rid of the bar? Some setting?

You're only capturing the window, not the whole screen.  The Window isn't at the full resolution, thus creating the "black bar" you speak of.

 

If you want to see the taskbar as well, you need to capture your monitor.

So swapped to whole monitor recording, think it fixed it.

All you need to do is under your source is checkmark:

1. Stretch image to screen
2. Ignore aspect ratio

Then resize the source on the preview window so the red box fills the screen if it does not do that already.
