Why are benchmarks so different?

Ok, I bought gta iv, i was stupid and didnt look at the benchmarks. it ran like phoop and think it was at 800x600 im not sure, i havent tried it in a while, i was getting about 15fps but looking at benchmarks he was getting about 50 while recording, we have the same gpu so is it my cpu, he has a core i5  u4200 and i have a pentuim n3530. is it bottlenecking? same with payday 2. im scared to buy a game in case it doesnt run as well as I think....

 

*edit* gta iv running at 800x600 at 13fps :(

also i only have 64mb of vram...

ooooh - I just saw it's a mobile dual(quad?) core. That explains it. I was thinking of the Penium D times.

i hope to get one soon, but now im stuck with a laptop, that doesnt upgrade! > :((

Phenom II is an old chip by now - I'd suggest looking for an i5/i7 and a good GPU (850m is the minimum I'd say)

I can get new parts just not a new mobo, im just not allowed for some reason, so i need to get the best chip i can get really

Does the board allow for it? A fair bit of mobile CPUs are soldered onto the motherboard.

its not a laptop, its a desktop that im turning into a slight gaming rig, im currently using a laptop

What does your current desktop have in it?

athlon 4450b apparently it would bottleneck anything better than a gtx 400 series 

You should be able to get a Phenom X4 - (talking original Phenom) but check if your board supports AM2+

Look on the board itself - there should be a number or model or something.

I doubt it beats a snapdragon 808 or higher at ANYTHING.
