If you don't have a monitor that displays over 60Hz then why bother? There will be no difference.

Dual link DVI or DisplayPort.

Ok, do those come with the monitor or would I have to separately purchase them?

A dual link DVI cable comes with the display.

So I wouldn't need to buy anything else?

If you wish to use the integrated speakers at any point while sustaining 144Hz, you will need to use DisplayPort. Otherwise, nope.

An FYI as well: I purchased and own the monitor.

Maybe, a DVI Dual link cable should be included. If you get a HDMI I'd cry....

But yeah if that happens you'll have to buy one separately.

Just remember: if your asking for DVI make sure it's "dual link" !! Otherwise your screwed.

As for display port, make sure you buy the right size as there is a "mini" variant.

Check your gpu and check the monitor before purchasing.

But yeah, you should get a DVI Dual link included...

Ok sweet! I definitely wouldn't use those speakers. Either separate speakers or my headphones would work just fine.

One last thing. HDMI 2.0 supports higher refresh rates, but this particular display was made way before HDMI 2.0 was even in existence, so therefore it doesn't support it. Any revision below 2.0 will not support 144Hz @ 1080p. (HDMI 2.0 also supports 4K@60Hz.)

Doesn't the GPU need to support that as well?

Yes, that is also true.
