I am building a budget light gaming and media pc, for the time being its gonna be hooked up to my 720p plasma tv, yep 720p  I got a brand new XFX r7 370 2GB for 80$ and i was just wondering what kinda experience people have had with their 370's, there are not a whole lot of reviews on it it seems, guessing since its a very budget oriented card. 80$ for a new one seemed like a fair price and a good way to both get a card for my budget pc and to try out a AMD card, always stuck with nvidia ever since i tried AMD / Radeon back in the days when their drivers were a HORRIBLE mess.

i know a guy with an r7 270, and he doesnt have the most pleasant experience at times... pretty sure thats the guy's own fault tho...

the same guy is currenlty my example of the worst perfomring FX8350 as well, clocking in at half the single core performance of my i7...

--

that said, its a mid range card, that'll perform like a mid range card. and do mid range card things. (like gaming on 720p with ease)

The 370 is an overclocked 270. That's why not a whole lot of people talk about it

Thought the entire 300 series was just rebranded / refreshed 200's, but i guess you are right :)

Gonna pair it with an i3, AMD might have cheaper CPU's but i have never heard anything good about them.

No the r7 370 is not an overclocked 270. It is just simply a refresh of the 265.

270 was midrange a year ago, now its kind of a low end card.. 960/380 are 'midrange' now.

i still dont actually have a good benchmark on the FX8350, i need to base myself on idiots that cant manage to install their AIO coolers right...

i3 may be nicely balanced with this card, depending on what things you'll be doing with it.

depends on the definitin of "midrange"

for me a 750Ti is midrange. (makes sense because its the middle of the range on nvidia products)

Midrange for me would be 960 / 380 i guess, from my understanding the 370 seems to perform about the same as the new 950, which i guess is gonna be just fine for 720p and maybe 1080p very light gaming and watching movies/tv series. Also chose this as i got it 50% off the original price brand new.

Where in the world did you score a new 370 for 80$?! That's one hell of a deal!

Anyways, I think it was a really good purchase for that price. You will definitely be able to play games at 720p. I think you will be able to go to 1080p for sure, but probably not at higher settings than low-med.

Bought it of a Danish hardware trade site called HOL (hardwareonline), got a section where people sell, buy and trade used hardware. Done a few trades with the guy before so he just gave me a good deal, he called it slightly used since its been tested for 24 hours, but to me that is new :)
