DX12 Support

I'm starting to receive the parts for my PC now and it's all quite exciting.

 

I noticed on my motherboard (the Asus Z98-P) it clearly says Direct X 11 support, although I specifically purchased a graphics card supporting Direct X 12.

 

Does this mean I won't be able to use DX12 on my PC or is the DX11 support on the motherboard just referencing something else?

Your motherboard won't matter. They put random garbage on there for advertising. You will however need Windows 10 and a game that supports DX12

Your motherboard really has nothing to do with DirectX feature level, it's just another logo to throw on the box to make it look like it's packed with NEW AMAZING features. It probably also had a logo that said something about it being "Windows 10 Ready," despite the fact that Windows 10 will install on virtually any x86 system of the last decade.

 

DirectX compatibility depends on three things: your video card, whether you have the DirectX software installed (which basically just means you have the proper version of Windows), and if the game you're playing supports it.
