No, the 5820k on the x99 platform would be the way to go.

The most you get on LGA1150 is a 4790k (4 cores, 8 threads), which is still plenty for gaming and editing (if you're not editing as a profession, then even an i5 is more than enough).

Any good i7 6 core processor? (for gaming/editing) socket 1150.

LGA1150 only the 4790k which has 4 cores/8 threads.

i7-5820k is the best bang for the buck 6 cored i7 but it's on a relatively expensive X99 (LGA2011-3) platform so not everyone can afford it.

i7 4960X. But I think that one is hard to come by and not sure how good it is.

Take a look at the X99 platform, with the 5820K for example. (you will need to use DDR4 though)

a 5820k is, for the most part, on par with a 4960x and usually cheaper (assuming you don't need more than 28 lanes).

The 4960x is also on X79.

Okey, a 4790k it is! Would you recomend and AIO liquid-cooler or a good traditional cooler?

Whichever you prefer aesthetically.

Something like an NH-D15 /Dark Rock Pro 3 are basically on par with most 240mm AIOs. (the downsides to an AIO are usually cost and the extra failure and noise point being a pump)
