New PC or just GPU?

So I want to either go 144 hz GSync at 1440p, or 4k and I'm not sure if my current PC will be able to handle it with just upgrading the GPU, or if I need a whole new system. My current system is:

and I'm either going to get a 980ti, or the successor to the 980 (1080????? No idea what it'll be called) but yeah. I only really game, would my system bottleneck a 980ti too much at 1440p 144 hz, or 4k 60hz?

Your system is more than fine.Maybe not 4k at ultra , nor 144fps at 1440p on ultra, but it will do pretty damn well.

 

Wait till Pascal launches. That's my best advice. If you don't want to wait that long, then just get a 980Ti.

Go for GPU upgrade only. 980 Ti will perform great on 1440p144Hz

CPU performs great still and 780 Ti should sell for quite abit

980 Ti will struggle to push 144fps on BF4 at 1440p though. Running BF4 at 1600p and my single 980 Ti can only pump 80-100 fps
