Hey guys...

i just ordered a nice Acer XB270HU monitor which is 1440p IPS Gsync panel...from the reviews it's great.

My question i guess is this and i would like only people who experienced Gsync or own Gsync and did lots of testing with it to answer as well as they could:

I'm going to play 1440p on a single GTX780 for a while, i've tested with DSR and it looks like i can easily get 45FPS+ in just about any demanding games if i go with FXAA for example and high or very high visual settings i've found that so long as i don't go ULTRA it works fine for 45FPS+

Question: how many FPS would you guys consider ''smooth'' on Gsync? his 50FPS smooth or does it feel stuttery and slow?

Any imput appreciated

thanks!

I have the Asus ROG Swift and 2 gtx 970, the gaming experience is awesome, I used to have tearing a lot with my dell 1080p ips panel, but with g sync its just buttery smooth no hicups no nothing

Honestly - with the right settings I've seen 30 fps look better than 50.

Around 45 FPS is pretty smooth, with 50FPS feeling like 60 IMO. The main benefit is that you don't notice the drops down to those FPS.

that's what i wanted to hear obviously...i know most of the games i play will render at 60FPS+ and some of them will even go much higher than this...but for the most demanding games if i can aim for 50FPS+ then i'll be happy with the performance i believe! ..after all i'm used to 60hz gaming and i usually play with no Vsync unless it's a racing game or something...so it should be quite a bit more enjoyable on this monitor even with a GTX780 right?

My current monitor is TN 6ms 1080p 60hz so this acer predator seems like a major upgrade on paper being 27'' 1440p IPS Gsync! :)

Thanks for your help guys...a few more questions regarding Gsync:

-Does it work with every games, old and new?

-Does it work in windowed mode now? (just curious, not gonna use it)

-Will it work with every future to be released higher-end GPU's from nvidia?

1. Technically, yes. However, it can cause issues in some games, particularly older ones.

2. Yes, there is an option for it in Nvidia Control Panel

3. Can't say, as they haven't been released yet, but for the foreseeable future, yes. Free/Adaptive Sync may become a standard though, so Nvidia may be left no choice but to switch to support one of those.

-It works with most games, but it will work best with nvidia supported games.

-It used to not be able to work with windowed mode but now it does, it wont work with borderless window tho

-yes its a new technology developed by nvidia, they are very proud of it. So yes every gpu from here on out will support g sync
