People forgot about 780 Ti?

SuperCactus

The 780 Ti is about as good as a 980 or possibly even better, and it sells for less. There was actually very little reason to buy a 980 when it came out. 980's still sell in the 400-500$ range while 780 Ti's now go for $290 on ebay.

I'm a little confused why nobody gives a rats arse about the 780 Ti when it's still a beast.

Also: 780 Ti is WAY beyond a 970. 780 Ti's are priced as much as a 970 yet perform like a 980.

Am I just dumb or do people not see that the 780 Ti is an underappreciated gem that was dumped for the attention of the 900 series

A 980 is better than a 780 ti, but your deal is good though going to better than a 970.

care to explain?

Comparing a USED and NEW card with 2 different prices MAKES NO SENSE!!!

it does make sense from a shopping perspective. Would you rather buy a slightly used ferrari for cheap, or a brand new Subaru that costs more?

a used 780 ti still beats a brand new 970 by 15% in benchmarks, and is selling for 15% cheaper.

How can you compare a used item from a random guy on Ebay to a new item from a giant retailer?

the GTX 980 is around 15% faster than the 780ti and the 970 is around 3% slower...

ebay is really not that sketchy. I've gotten quite a few nice deals from there, and never had a problem with anything. also, im selling a card that works great, and even has a little room for overclocking.

besides, the bottom line is that it performs significantly better for significantly cheaper; it's not a close call. It's a pretty clear win: +15% frames per second, and costs around $50 cheaper

not only a godly gamer, but also a godly mod.

on topic: theres more to a GPU than performance. like TDP, and an extra gig of VRAM.

980 is better. 970 is just a few percent slower but is cheaper and offers more features. Its not exactly hard to see.

Ok, I see the appeal of a 970 if someone wants a brand new card with 1gb more ram and runs cooler.

But what about the 980? Who would pay +100$ more for just 10-15% more performance. The 980 Ti sort of puts 980 in a weird spot.

That doesn't make sense.

the 980 is more powerful and newer.

Not the 980, the 970. A 780 ti is cheaper and (usually) faster than a 970. The only reason to buy a 970 instead of 780ti is to get it brand new, or for the extra vram

the thing is son, when you come to this level of performance...any performance % extra will indeed end up costing you a lot more has you go up...so 15% more for 100$ when you're already 400$ in the hole for the cards in the first place is only 25% more expensive and it does make sense...it's like everything, there's a sweet spot and past that point you get diminishing return for your money, it's always been like that and it always will.

Not saying a good deal on a used GTX780ti can't be good...of course it can be...if it's a little less expensive than the same edition of the GTX970 for example, then yes by all means go for it the 780ti is an amazingly powerful GPU.
