Windows 8.1 or 10?

Go to solution Solved by GoldForest,

Okay, I've decided to go ahead and just get windows 10 and ride out the storm. I can always wipe windows 10 and install 8.1 if I want, but hopefully win 10.1 will fix most, if not all, the issues. Thank you to everyone that gave input.

I'm looking to get parts for a build on my Birthday, but I'm having conflicting thoughts on which OS I should go with. What do you guys think?

Please do no suggest Windows 7. 8.1 is way better imo. And windows 10 looks to be even better.

The thing that has me is two things:

1) The spying/privacy issues

2) compatibility issues with older and some newer games

So here's my question. Should I get windows 10 and ride out the storm until 10.1 which will be released in a few months and will hopefully fix most of the compatibility issues and might fix the privacy issues? Or should I not upgrade to Windows 10, get 8.1 instead and wait for 10 to get the updates it needs before getting it?

Get 8.1 and update once 10.1 hits.

Personally I've had good luck on five systems without issue.

For the same price, get w10, You can turn the privacy spying things off, just google that stuff.

The site has changed....

Get 10. The spying you can disable, and if it works on 8.1 i will guarantee you it works on 10

I know I can turn the privacy most of the way off, but there's still the compatibility issues. I've heard running windows 8 compatibility modes doesn't help either. It still has a lot of issues and bugs.

It does. Some peoples parts aren't supported or there combination of parts aren't supported.

I'd get 8.1 for now just to be safe.

I can get Windows 10 for $100.98 at NCIX US. It's on sale for $89.99, it's $10.99 for shipping, and $1.25 for insurance. I could get free insurance for up to $100 coverage, but for less than two dollars, I might as well go for full coverage.

Windows 8.1 is also $89.99 at NCIX US. So they both come out to $100.98.

The question still remains which should I get?

It's currently 4 to 1, favoring Windows 10.

I would like some more opinions/votes please.

Also, the windows 10 price is a sales price, ending on the nineth.
