Posted September 3, 2015 I have the current 6GB version of the 980ti. I didn't know they are coming out with am 8gb version. Will I be able to SLI my current 980ti with the 8gb version as both are the same 980ti line just one has 2gb more ram?? I know SLI 970 to 980ti doesn't work sense it's two different lines. But will this work? Pretty sure SLI doesn't allows cards with different Vram hence why you can't SLI 960 2GB and 960 4GB. Posted September 3, 2015 You won't need 8GB for a looooonnnnng time, and by then the 980 Ti 8GB will be too weak to run games at a high setting/FPS. Just SLI two 980 Ti 6GB cards, that will run max settings for quite a few years. As for your question, SLI only works with cards which have the same Vram. Christ by that time, Pascal would be near, 8gigs is overkill for a 980ti, no game uses that much VRAM, and I think it's silly the 390 has 8 gigs. But will this work? For a 980Ti to have 8GB of vRAM, it'd either need a 512-bit mem bus, or a 256-bit mem bus. The 980 can have an 8GB version, but not the 980Ti. It wouldn't be a 980Ti anymore. I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
