TheAmazingCookieFromSquare

^

Got $200-$250 but as near to the $230 range as possible

The guy who needs a pair mainly listin's to electronic and bass.Pretty much it.Oh, they gatta be good for youtube vids and some gaming too.But any headphones are really for "gaming"

The headphones don't need to be geared toward gaming at all.Just need to concentrate around the music.

Open back or closed? Will they be used on the go?

The DT 770 PROs are a good pick for a closed back pair. For open I would also look into the Hifiman HE 400, Fidelio X2, and DT 990 PRO.

DT 770 PROs have excellent bass quantity and impact. They work great for electronic music.

dt-880s are great due to the fact that they are semi-open. I have the 990s which are fully open and have a ginormous sound stage. In reality, any variant of the DT series from Beyer dynamic is good, and can be had for as low as $150 (the price I got my 990s for on amazon)

For $250, if you can find the NAD Viso HP50 for under $250, that would be the headphone I would recommend. Maybe the K612 Pro may help (its usually under $200, sometimes under $150, and is miles ahead of the M50X) though it needs some amping due to insensitivity. Nevermind... go with the DT770 instead.

Probably DT770 is your best choice. I wanted to suggest K7xx, but it's not the greatest headphone for electronic music since the mid-bass is kinda dry

Bass and gaming don't really go together for that price range. The best you'll get for compromise is the DT 990 and the AKG K612 pro's. The DT 990's have more treble and thumpier bass, but the K612's have less treble and have a more punchier bass.

Of course, it will drive any headphone on the market. I have the DT 990 600 ohm version at home and it drives it plenty loud with low gain.
