Question about Win10 and licensing.

The key won't change. The key for 8 will still work for 8. There is no key for 10 upgrade version. The activation is managed entirely on the server side. During the upgrade it'll take a snapshot of the HW, save that on the servers with your "key" and so long as you're not modifying the HW, you'll stay activated.

If for whatever reason the upgrade fails, it'll revert back to the old OS. It's even possible to revert back after the upgrade has finished.

I've got a Macbook running win8. if i upgrade to win10, that'll change my product key to a win10 key.

Trouble is, i don't know for sure that the upgrade will work (my macbook doesn't even officially support win8...). If it doesn't work out, what do i do?

thanks, i'll be upgrading then.

Microsoft really should've done an FAQ regarding the win10 upgrade.

INB4 "they have an FAQ": Well, not a good one...
