Does the highest end i3 have more processing power than the lowest end i5?

No. 4 Core will easily beat 2 cores

High end i3s are a huge waste of money.

Nope.

i3 is a dual core CPU.

i5 is a quad core CPU.

So no.

More cores - More performance.

The only i3s you should really consider are 41x0, where x could be 3,5,6,7.

Nope.

i5 is a quad core CPU.

So no.

More cores - More performance.

With that logic, theoretically AMD would wreck face with their 8xxx and 9xxx processors, but it doesn't.

He's asking about high end vs low end, not gen 1 vs current gen..

EDIT: @Minibois this^ as far as I can tell, at least.

EDIT2: @DXMember, read the above. High end and low end are referring to the different i5-6xxx and i3-6xxx (just an example, comparing on the same generation). Not i3-6xxx vs i5-xxx.
