Since amd is the gpu and CPU maker for consoles, maybe, but definitely not as big as the new gpus.

Xbox is already using software that fully takes advantage of it's hardware. These things are made before the hardware even comes out, obviously it can improve over time but there isn't going to be some big performance gain with new games just because dx12 exists now.

The short answer is this:

The XBox One already uses a custom modified DirectX low-level API to give devs much closer access to the base hardware. This is much of the same benefits that DX12 provides.

 

When DX12 is released on the XBox One, you will certainly see some performance advantages, and it should be easier for the Devs to take advantage of said advantages - but the difference is going to be a LOT less than with PC.

Well from the looks of things that is because the desktop gpu's have asynchronous shaders. Do the console apu's have that feature?

Well of course, but I do hope these asynchronous shaders make amd's cards perform way better, I would love to see amd get smacked upside the head with a wakeup call. Part of me also wants consoles to stay alive, just at least enough to keep the riff raff out of pc gaming. (10 year olds )
