I got a Radeon R9 290 with a 750 Modular PSU for my pc upgrades. I have a FX6300 CPU, my question is.

Should my pc be "bottlenecked" by the FX6300 CPU? Cause I am getting some stutters here and there, where

as before with my GTX 650ti boost, I wasn't. So I got ParkControl, and all 6 cores are unlocked, it is using the

balanced option which says 1.40ghz of 3.50ghz 6 of 6 cores. My question is, if I go to High performance option,

3.5ghz of 3.5 ghz 6 of 6 cores, is that something I can do, should I be messing with it? I am using just a stock cooling

system. During game play the GPU temp is around 67C , under load. Now do these cards always run warm, cause

I can literally feel the heat off the card, but apparently 67C is a good temp. Just need some advice, please. tyty

I have a 280x and a FX-6300 (Oc'ed @ 4.3ghz), but I don't notice any stuttering, but then again, idk if I would be able to notice it.

Your CPU shouldn't be Bottlenecking your GPU.

Check you CPU and GPU when you game, and see the usage.

The FX 6300 is a powerful CPU despite what people think. It only goes up to 65% usage when I play GTA V on Very High Settings.

Okie, I will check my usage while gaming, what is normal %'s for cpu and gpu ? Ballpark %'s.

Depends on the game.

Some games LOVE good GPU's and some only really care about the CPU.

Example with GTA V for me, My R9 280 is @ 99% and my FX 6300 is @ 65%

So my cpu Core 1-6 usage %'s are around 37% - 70% ish and Temp wise is 67.5C

The GPU usage is at all over the place.... 0...19%...91%..100%... 50%...3%... just constantly changing

The GPU temp is 66C

67.5°C thats a bit on the high side for an FX chip.

Well all I have is the stock cooler, just spent 300$ on card and PSU, maybe a better cooler would of been good.

Have to wait till next year, only get to upgrade once a year....lol.

How is your airflow inside the case?

positive, negative or neutral?

Also how is your fan profile setup in the bios.

The best way with a stock cooler is to set this on the higest setting possible.

To keep the temps down.

I used my FX8350 with stock cooler more then a year, but my FX never got that hot.

Stock coolers are all the same for that matter.

what game are we talking about here?

Also yes it's normal for those R9 290 to run hot, you will feel the heat from the card...it's great to keep for feet warm during the long winter nights ;)

67c is a VERY good temp for this card, if it would be working it's ass off 100% consistently in games it will reach much higher temps than that and then YOU'LL KNOW your card his being put to use properly.

I will check my usage while gaming, what is normal %'s for cpu and gpu ? Ballpark %'s.

GPU 95%+ consistently with VSYNC OFF...CPU: lower as possible, but it won't mean anything...a CPU a 25% load can still be a limiting factor not because it can't process ''enough'' but because it can't process the required instructions FAST enough...

From my experience an FX-6300 at stock clockspeed will defenetly be limiting for a GPU as strong as the R9 290 in many games.

It should still be a good gaming experience on high settings, and you shouldn't experience stuttering as you described it...just ''lower than they should be'' framerates and low minimum FPS in clutch moments in CPU demanding games.

Your parts are not really a good match when it comes to gaming though, and you would benefit from a faster intel CPU.

Should be ok? i currently have 980ti on my 4.6ghz FX6300, At 1080p/1440p  you should be fine, i can run GTA 5 with at 1440p all on high with 70 Average FPS in online session. I have cpu at 70 in benchmark and around 60 in real life gaming. My CPU never get up to 100% in any game, it hovers around 90% mark and goes down at times, from hours of gaming on GTA 5/BF4 the major GPU/CPU intensiveness game i see no difference. My opinion is that 1080p you should be fine but as you go high i think you get the bottleneck. DX12 might fix some problem but intel is still a better choice.

High? my stock used to run at 70-80 degrees on stock cooler and it wasn't overclocked. Now my runs at 20-30 at idle and 50-60 during gaming. (BF4/GTA5)

Ok, why the hell do you have a 980ti with a CPU as old and weak (in all bar a few very specific situations) as the FX 6300?.

What the hell? Why are you using a 980Ti with a FX-6300? This is not a good match.

Far from it. With anything from the FX series you don't want to go above an R9 280X if you want your GPU to be working near to its full potential at all times.

I'd say that the maximum card for the best FX chips is the R9 390. You wouldn't really feel much of a difference between the ridiculous, but technically best 9590 and an i5 when using a 970 or 390 in gaming (at least in most games imo) besides the retarded heat generation of course

Well, yes... And no at the same time, even with a 280X in some specific games you'd get better performance when using an Intel CPU, good example is TERA Online, if you used a 270X instead of the 280X you'd get pretty much the same framerates cause this game is so badly optimized especially when using an AMD

Doubt an i3 would beat my 8350 in the witcher 3 :P With an 8350 I can stream TW3 on nearly the highest settings and maintain around 60 fps, good luck doing that with an i3 :D

An i3 would basically collapse in every CPU intensive game, that's the only issue, an i5 would be wayy better

Lmao, oh really? Then you've never seen a 4370 in action then have you? Oh and it+a decent and still cheap motherboard is less than an FX 6300 or 8350+a motherboard that can overclock them safely by a decent amount and an aftermarket cooler as the stock cooler is loud (I know its loud because I got given the stock FX 8350 cooler from my friends Phenom II-FX sidegrade, and I've used its fan on my Arctic Freezer Pro7 Rev2.0 (connected to my H87M Pro's CPU fan header)).

I have seen TW3 i3, i5 and 8350 comparison, when CPU usage was low the framerates with the i3 was slightly higher than with the 8350, however after benchmark changing place to Novigrad (most CPU heavy location in the game) the i3 from 70FPS dropped to 40 cause the CPU was bottlenecking hard while the 8350 was on par or sometimes even 1-2 fps ahead of the 4690k there...

The i3 wasn't powerful enough to handle a CPU heavy part of the game, and TW3 overall is not a very cpu heavy game
