Posted August 31, 2015 Author Thanks for the posts, I play Black Desert Online, Im not sure if it is a GPU or CPU reliant game to be honest. And hey my MOBO accepts the FX series chips, anyone have a used FX 8320 or 8350 they wanna donate, lol. I spent what I could, and I cant do anything else till next year, just how it is. I was hoping for amazing gameplay, but I do get stutters here and there. maybe the 6300 just cannot cope with the 290. By the way I do not expect anyone to just give away a 8320/8350....was humor. And yeah I wish I could of went to an Intel.... it is what it is. And yeah I wish I could of went to an Intel.... it is what it is.Just like pretty much every MMO's, RPG's and RTS games out there this game is CPU intensive, anything that has a lot of caracters and NPC on screen at once and lots of interactions will bring an FX chip to his knees...you would get better performance out of your hardware in more modern AAA titles such as battlefield games for example or the witcher 3 or dragon age inquisition and stuff. I must admit though, that game look VERY compelling to me...never heard of it before! lol | CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v | Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING | CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 | | GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC | RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz | | Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/441072-fx-6300-cpu-question/page/2/#findComment-5915419 Share on other sites
 Posted August 31, 2015 FX-6300 is a bit low on clock maybe if it was at 4.0GHz? Be careful and do not blow the mobo VRMs!!! The problem with the modified Phenom II X3 is that even at 4GHz its not that fast singlethreaded, and is easily beaten by the original Phenom II X3 in single threaded loads at the same clock speed. Just like then if you can use all threads, by all means get the CPU with more threads. However if you won't get the CPU with a lower thread count. (Eg. Phenom II X4-lowest clockspeed of the series, Phenom II X3-higher clockspeed while having the same TDP as the previous X4, Phenom II X2-highest clock speeds while retaining the same TDP as the X4. AMD used to have it so you could either choose good single threaded performance, a balance of good multithreaded and single threaded performance, the they had lower singlethreaded performance in exchange for better singlethreaded performance. Which is why the Phenom II X4 is faster multithreaded than higher clocked i3 from 2010/2011). .;ldkO0000Okdl;. michael@SUSE-BlackBox .;d00xl:^''''''^:ok00d;. OS: openSUSE 20260405 .d00l' 'o00d. Posted September 1, 2015 High? my stock used to run at 70-80 degrees on stock cooler and it wasn't overclocked. Now my runs at 20-30 at idle and 50-60 during gaming. (BF4/GTA5) max save core temp for a FX cpu is 61°C on the core. So if you say that your FX cpu with stock cooler hit 80°C without crashing. Then i dont believe you. Unless you talk about a intel cpu, thats a diffrent story. Intel chips run way hotter then AMD cpu´s for that matter. But you cannot realy compair that. According to op´s topic, and discription of issues. it looks to me that his FX cpu is overheating at 67°C and start to choke. And that will also explain the stutters and gpu ussage valling back to 3% Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/441072-fx-6300-cpu-question/page/2/#findComment-5919582 Share on other sites
 Posted September 1, 2015 Lmao, oh really? Then you've never seen a 4370 in action then have you? Oh and it+a decent and still cheap motherboard is less than an FX 6300 or 8350+a motherboard that can overclock them safely by a decent amount and an aftermarket cooler as the stock cooler is loud (I know its loud because I got given the stock FX 8350 cooler from my friends Phenom II-FX sidegrade, and I've used its fan on my Arctic Freezer Pro7 Rev2.0 (connected to my H87M Pro's CPU fan header)). This is not a topic about amd vs intel. So discussions about any intel cpu is totaly irrelevent. OP has a FX6300 and has issues with it, so discussions about amd vs intel are totaly off topic. And dont make any sense, it only derails the topic. I would suggest to stay ontopic. Or are topics about AMD still not allowed uphere? lol note that this quote is not ment as personal against you. But this is just a randon quote, for anyone. Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/441072-fx-6300-cpu-question/page/2/#findComment-5919692 Share on other sites
 But you need to be sure that you have a good airflow going on inside your case. Also the fan speed of the cpu cooler should ramp up highly. The time that i used my FX8350 with stock cooler, during gaming i had cpu fan speeds from over 5000rpm. i had 2x120mm intakes and 1x120mm exhause in that config. i currently use a Phantom530 case which comes with a 200mm front intake, and a 140mm back exhaust. i use a phanteks PH-TC14PE as cpu cooler right now. But my temps in summer still get easaly over 50°C on stock speeds wenn under stress/ This is most likely because my airflow sucks. I tried this with a prime95 tst on a 30°C ambiend temp, and the temps went up quickly to 60°C Then i allready starting to notice cpu choking and V-drops. So yeah if op´s cpu hits 67°C then i think he might suffer from choking aswell. Posted September 1, 2015 Ok, why the hell do you have a 980ti with a CPU as old and weak (in all bar a few very specific situations) as the FX 6300?. What the hell? Why are you using a 980Ti with a FX-6300? This is not a good match. I going skylake at the end of this year.. The reason i had 980ti is because i my friend brought 3 by accident (He kinda rich) so i ask for one for around 600AUD which is bloody good deal. I bloody know it not a good match... i dont expect much from what i have now. Runs GTA5 fine now from not even running. Magical Pineapples
