Unidentified network Ethernet problem (HELP plz)

I installed all the drivers for the motherboard and when I connected my Ethernet cable it says identifying... Then it says unidentified network. I reset the modem and tried all the other lab slots.

Do I have to install the gpu drivers for it work. I didn't install the drivers that came with the gpu because I wanted the most advanced one on their website.

It's not the problem of the Ethernet because I use it for other stuff.

I tried to search it up on YouTube but the vids did not help.

This weekend I'm going to install the gpu drivers and try to see if the ethernet works this time :(

What motherboard do you have and what ethernet drivers did you install. Did you install the ones off of the driver disc that came with your motherboard?

Yes I installed the drivers that came with the motherboard disc. I have a asrock b85 pro4 motherboard.

Do you happen to have Vmware or Virtualbox installed?

Hoe can he get VMWare or VirtualBox without internet in the first place?

Since I was the one who built it for him, I made sure everything was connected, and working properly. I will be sure to update all the drivers for the motherboard and try new cables and stuff. Thanks to everyone who will help.

Well, he never stated his network connection doesn't work. He stated it showed up as an unidentified network. Having either Vmware or Virtualbox installed happens to do this.

Also to the OP: Are there any devices which have a yellow triangle in Device manager? The fact that Windows does try to identify the network tells us that your network driver is installed. Maybe it isn't setup properly?

Try finding the NIC under Network and Sharing center. Right click properties, and then check the IPv4 properties:

Make sure you have it set to obtain an IP and DNS automatically:

Post a screenshot of the network adapters you see under the Network and sharing center. Also post a screenshot of device manager and the NIC please.

Maybe your network has MAC filtering or requires an static setup?
