system specs? with any GPU over a 750 ti I wouldn't 24/7

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

Should be fine but they arent meant for heavy duty use. id get something a bit better like one from the RM series. They'll be much more reliable in the long term

Should be fine but they arent meant for heavy duty use. id get something a bit better like one from the RM series. They'll be much more reliable in the long term

it isn't heavy duty and it has some cheep GPU. but it does have CPU power.

RM aren't much better. Seasonic PSUs would be a better option

no the rm's are quite a bit better then cx, its just that rm's are overpriced

i don't want to spend the money right now. so is it good right now?

 

i would really wait until you can get a new one. Overheating a psu can lead to a serious fire risk and folding will push that psu to the max

i don't know what the ambient is.

It's not the easiest in the world to measure. A safe test is "half your GPU temp under max load." If the max temps of your GPU are 80C, for example, then you might want a PSU with an ambient temp tolerance of 40C or more. That isn't exactly how it works but it's a nice, safe way of making sure you don't set fire.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

the GPU is a cheap 2011 (cheep then) GPU so it isn't that good.

it is at 20 c ambient while folding
