So, I have a Q6600 currently, stock speeds and I am not able to overclock on the mobo I have now. I have a broken R9 270 in my build, and was wanting to replace it when I get my next paycheck (Tomorrow). The GTX 960 seems nice, but it bottlenecks on my cpu, so are there any good GPU's out there that don't bottleneck with what I have?

You mean your cpu bottlenecks the 960? I mean, you could a 750 ti.

Didn't Luke use a 290 with a Q6600 on scrapyard wars? If it works with a 290, then it'll probably work with the 960. However, I'd upgrade your CPU later on though, it's getting a bit old. There will be a bottleneck, but not enough to be truly limiting the card.

for $200 i'd get the r9 280x since it performs better and has 3gigs of vram instead of 2

Just get a GTX 950 (better deal than 960) and upgrade your CPU later on. You don't even need to upgrade, realistically. You are giving yourself less performance by getting a worse GPU that won't do you any good in the future.

A good companion for that CPU would probably be something like a R9 260X at $120 USD.
