I have been using an old slide phone for a while now along with a ipod 5th gen and now that I have enough money I am looking for a new phone and since there are so many different options I am wondering what you would recomend, also I don't know what screen size also my price ranges is like less that $600 or so.

I'm personally pretty stoked to see the new Moto X style. Affordable, stock android, large battery, good screen and great build quality. They apparently even managed to give it a decent camera. Otherwise, the Oneplus 2 is always an option, or even the Oneplus one if you're not looking for the latest and greatest and want to save some money. Still a great phone.

Yup would say iphone 6 also it will be comfortable for you, unless you want change then i would say check out "MKBHD" on youtube he has tonnes of reviews on many phones. Some andriod phones to possibly look at S6/Note5(not out yet)/G4/one plus two.

But if you dont want to deal with the hassle of a new OS easy choice, i phone 6/plus

iPhone 6, it will be familiar but still a great upgrade from your iPod, and you won't have to carry 2 devices anymore.

Wait till iphone 6s don't buy the 6 now.

ah ok, did not expect that many so fast, but what would be some good alternatives that are unlocked, because I don't my parents want to get me  on a contract.

Almost every phone is unlocked but it's pointless to get a Iphone 6 atm since it's old.

You can take a look at Android phones.

Obviously if you've used an iPod before, then it would make sense to upgrade to an iPhone 6.

But, because I hate Apple, I will recommend you the LG G4 or the OnePlus One.
I cannot speak for the OnePlus Two, because I haven't used it yet and also haven't seen any reviews on it yet.

The OnePlus One is still a pretty awesome phone, especially for it's low price at 300$.

Other than that you might want to have a look at Samsungs S6.

Xperia Z5 Compact (end of September). By then, you can judge what the 6S will be like but i am waiting for this one.

It will be on par with the 6S and will cost less.

Pros:

More performance potential (Either Snapdragon 810 or 820)

Cheaper

Hopefully have a better camera (brand new 21MP sensor)

32GB base model

Same screen quality but will also have stereo speakers

Water and dust proof, as well as being expandable

Cons:

6S will be thinner and better built

Apple customer support

Faster updates and likely more update support (unlike the Z5 they will be pulling brand new features left right and centre until the last software update to focus on the "better" phones)

Current Rig:   CPU: AMD 1950X @4Ghz. Cooler: Enermax Liqtech TR4 360. Motherboard:Asus Zenith Extreme. RAM: 8GB Crucial DDR4 3666. GPU: Reference GTX 970  SSD: 250GB Samsung 970 EVO.  HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB. Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro. PSU: Corsair RM1000X. OS: Windows 10 Pro UEFI mode  (installed on SSD)

Peripherals:  Display: Acer XB272 1080p 240Hz G Sync Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Brown Mouse: Logitech G502 RGB Headhet: Roccat XTD 5.1 analogue

Daily Devices:Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact and 128GB iPad Pro
