cutting down to Z170 will make up for the cost difference, and will actually outperform in badly threaded applications.

Hello everyone,

The question is what the title says, I'm looking into building a Workstation/game pc and I'm not sure what I should be picking parts wise.

I'll be working with programs like autodesk maya, photoshop, sony vegas, sidefx houdini and illustrator.

But, I'd also like to be able to play games on there.

These are the parts I have put together:

The main problem lies in the cpu, I'm not really sure what is better for these tasks starting with amd or Intel.

My budget is 2000 euro's.

A big thanks in advance!

1. Swap out the 4770 for a 4790K.

2. Swap out the 850 Pro for an 850 EVO.

3. Swap out the SuperNOVA NEX for a SuperNOVA GS. 550W if you want to save a little more money.

4. Swap out the Seidon 120M for a 120V. Cheaper and higher fin density.

5. Swap out the Barracuda drive for a WD Red or Caviar Blue.

6. Consider the 230T as IMO it looks a lot better than the 200R.

Thank you all for the help!

i see a problem here: while thats an impressive build, germany is one of the cheapest countries of europe, and prices will be a tad higher in NL.

5820K definitely. Unlocked, 6 cores, 12 threads vs unlocked 4 cores, 8 threads.

but the 4 cores are faster, so in badly threaded applications the 4 cores will win.

also, as you saw before the 4 cores are also significantly cheaper.

Yeah but for the games that do use all the cores... Holy shit. Over clock that son of a bitch and you'll be fucking flying my nigga.

thats where the lower wattage of a quad core comes in.

i want to see a 5820k clocked to 5GHz on air :P
