So I've had this problem with my Windows update time for a while now it's more of an annoyance than a real problem so I've left it till now but I figured I may as well try sort it out while I have some free time. Basically even though i have the time set up to automatically update from the internet my PC refuses to do so on boot up this means I have to manually update the time every time I boot up so that I can browse the internet with out getting invalid certificate warnings on every page I load. I have a valid copy of Windows 7 and it has no problem getting the time when I click update this confuses me as the time should not reset after shutting down anyway so there must be something that is reseting the time every time i boot, it always resets to 12:00 on boot. If anyone has any ideas or helpful information I would greatly appreciate the help.

CMOS battery is dead. replace it.

It's a CR-2032 that you can find pretty much anywhere. Just pop the old one out of its socket/slot/thingy and pop in the new one and you're sorted.

I wish it were this simple unfortunately it's not the the CMOS as it's an almost brand new MOBO so the chances are very slim.

Reset the BIOS may be. Update the BIOS if there is any.

Check the BIOS time too.

Because it can cause the problem too.
