Hey guys just wondering if the GTX 690 is still worth it? The only game i really play is GTA 5 and CS:GO. I was hoping on building a new PC soon, and was going to make the build as cheap as possible, then buy a used GTX 690 with the left over $$. But i was wondering, would a better option be a 780/ti/maybe even a titan?

The 690 is a great card and it's still relevant. However the performance may vary since it's a dual GPU card and relies on how well SLI is implemented in different games. Get it if you can find it cheap, otherwise get a single GPU.

the sexual ahem gpu is not worth because its old better get a new one like the ones you suggested but with these games a 970 is enough

Do you think a GTX 860m, or a 960m 2/4gb or possibly GTX 970m would be good enough for GTA 5 on high at 40=60fps?

Ok cool thanks! Do you think the 960m would be able to sit at around 50fps at 1080p on medium-high? Would like to play at those settings. I would aim for the 4gb model though.

the difference between the 960 and 970 is not big but big enough to say no , 3 gigabytes of 970 will suit you in every way possible

Why would you get a "gaming laptop" when you are building a gaming PC is beyond me, but still - here are benchmarks of GTA V on mobile GPUs - GTA V Benchmarked.

Because i hate having to sit at a desk every time i want to give something a quick browse. It's either a gaming laptop or Matx build.

960m might be too slow too keep things steady.

i recently got the asus g501 with a 960m and i have to use pretty much lowest settings on gta 5 (at 1080p) to have steady 60 fps

edit: to clarify, i got all settings on "normal" aka lowest, fxaa on and all non-advanced distance scalers are maxed (standard). If you can live with not having constant 60 fps and maybe turn down some distance scalers you could probably increase quite a few of the graphics settings on a 960m.

I would say no even though it performs like a 980 but you the VRAM would be an issue because it only has 2gbs

Isn't the 690 with 4GB VRAM? EVGA's site lists it as a 4GB GPU. However if it really is with 2GBs I'd stay away from it.

Oh wait it is 4gb, I must've read it wrong somewhere. But it's still an older gpu with an older architecture that you shouldn't buy.
