Get one with just the i7. RAM is interchangable and upgradable.

But to summarize your OP, you want a regular laptop with an i7, optionally lots of RAM but no dedicated GPU and also no SSD?

Im okay with a SSD, thats normal stuff. Having a laptop that has 6 corners, a keyboard that shines in 16m different colors is not :/

Yeah powerfull CPU. GPU not important at all.

Judging a laptop by its video outputs is stupid.

I want a laptop that compiles the Linux kernel in 5 minutes, not 25.

The W540 has a HDMI port. Satisfied?

I would like 1080p playback. Nothing more, and casual old games, like the original Half-Life and Sudden Strike,  but any Intel HD graphics can handle that i assume. I will be running Ubuntu/Linux anyway.

If you want an Ultrabook I'd suggest an Asus UX303LA.

It comes with a VGA and Ethernet adapter in the box.

Having extra cables seems  pointless, and ultrabooks are just pointless, too. Shitty battery, poor cooling, no I/O what-so-ever...

Shitty battery? Ultrabooks are the laptops to get most battery life.

Poor cooling? Not anymore. They don't even need much cooling.

No I/O? 3 USB 3.0 ports, combo audio jack, HDMI , mini DP, and a card reader. I have the same I/O on my Lenovo Y50 (if you count the Ethernet adapter on the Asus), and that is a 15" gaming laptop. My old Acer didn't have as much I/O.

Ultrabooks have come a long way. There's no reason not to buy one, unless you need more power or you don't have the money for one.
