Problem installing windows 8 64 bit on 32 bit

Hello, I was trying to install windows 8 64 bit edition over my installation of windows 7 32 bit but it say I can only got from a 64 bit to 64 bit installation and yes I met the system requirements. What will I have to do to install the 64 bit edition? Will wiping my hard drive completely and the using the CD work?

Formatting the HDD to NTFS and using the boot disk should work.

I believe that in your case you have to format the drive and do a clean install

You can't upgrade from 32bit to 64bit you need to do a clean install or install without formatting then you will get a windows.old folder on your C:\ drive

You need to do a clean install. You cannot start a 64-bit setup on Windows 32-bit, because a 32-bit OS can't understand 64-bit code.

You need to boot from the Windows 8 64-bit disk (or USB flash drive) to run the setup outside of Windows.
