Is the GTX 970 Good for 1080P gaming? if so which one should I get

I have between the 970 and 980 (budget is 520 I so i would be able to get any better version of the 980 just the basic one or sc) I know the 980 is better but is it that much better for 1080p gaming. I do want to save a few bucks and if its unnecessary but if the 970 is not going to cut ir for me than I guess  I have to spend more.

I don't pay too many games. I want to play World of Warcraft on Ultra with frames rates of 60 or higher to maintain them  as long as it doesn't drop to like 40. I really don't care if they go to like 100 FPS because my monitor's refresh rate is only 60hz and I won't be able to notice them.

I also play Battlefield 3 and 4 I want to max them out at 1080p.

and last I play mincecraft with shaders but my current card does a good job so far ( GTX 750 TI )

I Want to get an

INTEL CORE I7-4790K

in the following months probably in 4 or 5 months and right now I have an Intel core i5 2320 and it does good with my current card. But is it good for the card or will it be a draw back in performance dramatically at least fot the performance I want?

970 is overkill for BF4, a 960 would even max out most 1080p titles (without major AA or stuff like that).

GTX 970? depends if you don't mind turning  few settings down just a fraction to maintain 60FPS. a friend of mine has the MSI Gaming 4GB (actually 3.5GB) and I have the gtx 980. there is honestly only a little bit more difference  between the two. I.E. if I play a game with everything turned on (without VSync) I would get 60fps on the 970, where if I had the 980, with exactly the same settings, I might get 70, 75 FPS. depends on the game as well. but overall the 970 is a VERY good card for 1080p. plus you can overclock it a fair bit to even closely match a stock 980 :)

970 does well on most games at 1080p, but games like GTAV will require some reduced details and still run poorly (I dip to 25fps when I'm driving in the hills with max settings and advanced graphics and 2xMFAA, but otherwise I would say that I average 50fps (40-70fps usually)

I really like my 970, it'll run most new games pretty much maxed at 1080.
As for picking one, find one that has connectivity that you need.
I have a msi 970, and it kicks ass!
Only downside is one displayport, but different cards have different points.
They'll all kick ass, just get one thats in your price range with connectors you'll use.
And enjoy=)

Higher frame rate over higher resolution.

I agree the 970 will handle 1080p with some settings turned down. But if you do have the budget for a 980 I would opt for the better card considering the 4gb in the 970 is actually 3.5.

If you wanna save a few bucks then go with the 970, it will perform 1080p just fine

The 970 G1 is a hot favourite in LTT. I suggest the G1.

Stop spreading misinformation, GTX 970 has 4Gb, but It should be called like 3.5+0.5Gb as last 0.5Gb is slower.

Yes 1080p doesn't need 4Gb, but spreading misinformation is wrong.
