I have a Dell inspiron 3847 with a intel pentium g3240 and a gtx 750ti and 12gb off ddr3 1600mhz ram, and i just bought gta 5. most people know gta 5 hates duel cores so i was wondering if with the stock motherboard can i upgrade to a i5 or a i7?

I would say that it will support at least an i3 probably i5 or even a i7 with lga 1150

You should be able to run on medium settings at the least. It's Far Cry 4 you should be worried about, that game won't even start on dual cores (except i3s). I have an i3 4170 and GTA V runs perfectly fine.

The problem is it maxes out my cpu and then the world stops rendering so I am driving and walking on nothing. i can run it fps wise great 40-50 on medium but it just stops rendering.

4690k so if u look for upgrading ur gpu in the future and it's not that expensive.

the question here is going to be what is the highest end CPU that this computer comes with?? Because that will likely be all it supports. They usually lock down the BIOS in that way.

a worthy upgrade would be an intel core i5 processor...i would go with an i5-4460 if you're willing to update the BIOS to the most recent version

or an i5-4440 if you're NOT willing to risk it all and update your BIOS.

A lot and that extra vram shows itself in most of the modern titles and the 2gb of 750ti is just not cutting it anymore.

In almost every game I completely use all of my vram.
