That's not a very good example, the 970A Krait is only a 4+1 board, you are NOT supposed to run a 9590 in it so that fire was because that guy is stupid and didn't buy a board that has good enough VRMs to support his PC. The 970 Gaming is a 6+2 and the 8350 uses a lot less power. It will be fine.

970 Gaming is better then M5A97 R2.0, MSI's older VRM designs on AM3+ were shit I do agree, but the 970 Gaming is much different and improved from their past garbage

4+1 will handle 125W stock. I've been running my Phenom II X6 on 4+1 with a slight overclock (2.8 to 3.2) for the past 3 years, on an Asus M5A88-M (no VRM heatsinks) and have not had a single issue, still going strong today. However personal experience != real-world results, so the higher quality of a board you can buy the better.

All of MSI's 990FX and 970 boards are fucking trash, 990FX Sabertooth or Crosshair V Formula are the only good boards with decent power delivery and features.

doesnt matter what it fucking looks like, you need ATLEAST a 8+2 power delivery system on the board.

What he needs is an i5 ;)

FX is a garbage platform anyway.

Did you really just relink that video O.o

Again, that's nobody's fault but of the guy who made the video. It should be common sense that 4+1 VRMs and a 9590 is a fire waiting to happen. Even 8+2 can barely handle it.

That 970 board will most likely explode or overheat even at stock clocks, get a 990FX UD3 at the least.

Did you even read what you quoted?

All of MSI's AM3+ boards from before were trash, yes. But the 970 Gaming (and 990FXA Gaming) are more then capable of handling a stock 125W chip.

You do NOT need 8+2 to run a 125W chip at stock speeds. That is downright misleading information. 6+2 is plenty, with 4+1 being not exactly recommended but still passable. As I type this on a slightly overclocked 125W chip running on a 4+1 Asus M5A88-M (not even VRM heatsinks) that's been running perfectly for 3 years and is still going well.

i do not care about looks either but others do not fit my budget

Then get it.

A friend of mine has the 970 Gaming as well, running an 8320 overclocked to 4.0 for 6 months with no issue. The chip can do much higher as it did quite well in the silicon lottery but I would not push it past that for reliability's sake regarding the board's VRMs. If you want to OC get a 8+2 but if you're going to stick with stock speeds the 6+2 970 Gaming will do well.

Put your thumb on the chokes, not an ideal situation.

Just did. They're warm to the touch but not excessively hot.

You also need to remember it all depends on what a phase it rated to, for example your specific board has a 50amp chokes, where as the krait has 20amp chokes. It's not just a number. Krait uses DPAK while you have PowelRstage vrm's and chokes. All depends on quality of the board.

Never said the Krait was a good board lol, I don't trust it's VRMs any more then my board's.

i +1 that ran my old board for 2 years with 8350 its also 4+1

the vrm were hot but was not anything to worry about

heat doesn't equate to anything really, It's about how many amps you are pulling through them.

dont be suprised when you have a dead board because you tried to overclock.
