Guest Johnny5g
Go to solution Solved by iHardware Shelden,

hum. how would i do this?

Assuming they are on the same network (router) and homegroup in windows you should be able to access it. It is kind of hard to explain via text but there are many simple tutorials on youtube.  ;)

ok should i get a hard drive enclosure? not a bad idea.

I would, lets you hook it up to your laptop, use it for backup or whatever.

You could turn the dell tower into a nas.

Do you get a lot of business. I have though of doing builds for people in the past.

Freenas is the way to go, but install it on a usb drive not on a hard drive. Then use the hard drive for storage, but any drives are locked to freenas so you won't be able to use windows. First hand experience :(.

i have a mac. xD

That's another huge problem...

Maybe get rid of that Mac and get two potatoes so you have double the performance.  ^_^

JK.  ;) I would simply put that drive into your new Dell tower. Probably not a bad idea to have another drive. Maybe use it in RAID 1 as a backup in case one of your drives fails?

If you don't use it all, sell it. Maybe someone needs a drive...

You could use it too dual boot linux on your dell tower. I recommend ubuntu.

No it is purely designed for storage more or less so folding would be out of the question.
