Gaming Laptop or Build my own PC?

ExDee009

Hi! im planning to buy my first gaming rig. and i can't choose if i will puchase a gaming laptop or i will buy parts and build my own pc. some says building a PC is easy but im a total newbie at building one. so im scared that i might break some parts during building. what do you guys think?

By the way my budget is 2500 CA$ or 2000 US$.

Can you give me also a set up for this budget thanks!

I would recommend just building your own PC. And with that budget you can go with a pretty powerful rig.

If you are going around places and still wanna play games, go with laptop. if not, build your own pc. it's super easy, even a 5 year old or a 65 year old can do it. what do you wanna do? gaming? edeting? what parts do you need? do you need peripherals? monitor? do you wanna get OS from Reddit? (personally i don't like those, but it's a great way if you're in a budget) Do you want speakers, headset? etc..

Do you wanna spend premium right now, or upgrade it later down the line (i.e. getting cheap KB/Mouse combo right now, then save up for premium KB, Mouse)? Are you going to overclock?

To play devils advocate. You might need a laptop for like college or something, depending on your specific needs and if you'll be sitting down at one spot all day or not.

You could also go with a $1700 Desktop + $400 chromebook/surface, if that would suite you better.

Also, for $2000, you can get a pretty bitchin X99 build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TrGTf7

but that's without any peripherals, or drop down to Z97 and get http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WDqzrH with a few hundred dollars to spend on peripherals and an OS and the like.

(sorry for double post, would edit, but I don't know if you get ping'd with @ notifications added in edits)

I think my $2000 PC in my signature will do you a lot better than a laptop at the same price.

True, but if you can wait, building now or sometime soon, then getting an ultrabook at Black Friday, is great. that's what I did before.

How's this for a build? idk if you really need and will use the features of the MoBo if not just go for a cheaper Gaming 3 from Gigabyte or MSI. If you are going for competitive gaming (i.e. CS:GO) go for a 1ms 120 Hz TN monitor.

If I were you, just spend around $1500 MAX on building the PC, then save the $500 for an ultrabook on Cyber Monday/Black Friday. you won't get much boost on gaming if you go from a $1500 to $2000, if you are going to render and edit then yeah, go ahead. that would be worth it. if not, just go for a high performing $1500 PC.
