So I've never owned an LED IPS monitor. I'm getting one and I'd like to know how you are able to spot dead or stuck pixels? Is it like a little black dot or what? Also how are you suppose to even check for one? The screen changes so fast I'd never be able to tell if it was a dead pixel or just a dark image. Finally what is backlight bleed? I keep finding different answers and can't find one consistent one.

Look up dead pixel test, but basically display a full screen black, white, red, green and blue images. If any pixels are not the same, that means they are stuck/dead. If you are buying a NEW IPS monitor from a reputable brand, you SHOULD NOT have any dead pixels.

As far as backlight bleed, that refers to the edges being slightly darker than the rest on a very dark/fully black image.

When in doubt, re-format.

You're likely witnessing IPS glow, not backlight bleed.

I ask cause I'm thinking of getting the XB270HU and I've heard they have QC issues with dead pixels and backlight bleed.

Dead pixels are usually just black, while stuck pixels will be one of a bunch of bright colors. You could also have a dead sub pixel (like one of the colors in the rgb matrix), which can be a bit harder to spot, as the pixels will respond normally, but just with one dead subpixel.

There are many sites on the internet that will go though a munch of colors, to make it easier to spot any kind of pixel anomoly.

Back light bleed is generally a part of the screen where the backlight "bleeds" through more than it should, usually characterized by a bright spot on a dark background. It generally occurs around the edges.
