Why are you going to spend that much on a system and not go with the latest architecture?  you should go with a 6700k or a 5820k especially if your going to spend 3 grand on a system.

6700k is pointless either way, he should get a 5820k though.

Also the 2 1tb Drives are kinda silly your better off getting a good 500GB ssd and a mass storage drive. and the corsair ram you picked out cost as much a ddr4 does. and also the powersupply is very overkill you only need a 750w for that system and at 350.00 I am starting to think this is a fictional build and you just playing. also your cooler come with thermal past but having an extra just in case is ok but having 2 is pointless unless you plan on making several computers.  and to finish your getting a 980ti to play on a 1080p tn panel. If I were you i would take off one of the ssds all together and get a 1440p 144hz monitor.

how is a 6700k pointless if your spending 300 on a computer wouldent you want the latest generation parts?  Thats like getting a 2015 car or getting a 2014 car for the same price what would you get. and I know what you going to say the 4970k is cheaper but in his case its not becouse the ram he chose is 136 and the board he chose is 258

because the performance difference is slim, with that cooler he could get that performance with an oc, check the build i put anyway, sure you will like it.

anything i should change before buying?

For that price I could put together 6/8 core x99 build with a titan X. Or even 2 980ti. You have a lot of money waste around fans, storage also. Also, 1 thermal paste is enough to paste and repaste a CPU about 5-10 times

Also, PSU is a waste, think you need like 600w max for 1 980ti or about 800 for sli. Don't quote me on that though.

You've to redo this build altogether. I've a 970/ i7 4790k build incoming that costs about $1000. If I throw in a second 970 into it, I'll have similar performance

Why this monitor?

Running 980ti SLI is pointless if you're only using it for a 1080p screen

i didnt put that monitor in, it was already there.

Peripherals are highly subjective, so I'll leave those out

You can get another card if you want too, but most games will run smoothly with a single card at 1440p

You can change any part you want too as this is entirely your decision ;)

Honestly speaking your first rig shouldnt even be this grand... Just start off with something like a 970/290(x)/390 with a i5 4460 and a h97 (or even better h81m) motherboard with 8gbs of ram, 250gb ssd and some hard drive for storage

The BBQ: i7-4770 / 212x / Tri-X R9 290x 1075/1400 / MSI H87-G43 GAMING / EVGA G2 850W / Corsair Spec 03 / Samsung 840 EVO 250gb SSD / Toshiba 2TB HDD / 8gb Kingston DDR3 1600mhz
