Need some MX Keyswitches

Go to solution Solved by Opask,

I don't think you can get blues with clear tops by default. You would have to get normal blue switches take them apart and then replace them with something like this.

But I'm not sure you can swap switches in that keyboard and still maintain the RGB capabilities (someone correct me if i'm wrong.) I was pretty sure the rgb lighting with those was built into the switch itself and wasn't just an LED like normal backlit keyboards.

What you might have to do is swap the springs and the actual blue tip part (don't know the proper name) and just maintain the original switches housing.

So im buying a corsair Corsair K70 RGB LED Mechanical Gaming Keyboard and I would like some clear top MX Blue keyswitches

I can't find any as clear as Corsair's so far the clearest I have found are these

here and here are how clear Corsair's actual keyswitches are

I would like the switches as close as possible to these

all I need is:

  • clear as possible but not so clear it is brighter than the other keyswitches to the point they stand out (so just as close as possible as the default)
  • MX Blue keyswitches only
  • A full pack for all keys (only keeping WASD)

Thanks for all the replies!

The RGB led is built into the housing of the Cherry MX keyswitch. Replacing the key switches not only will void your warranty but completely rid it of the RGB lighting.

Yep, like I said the RGB led is built into the switch, so changing out the switch rids the keyboard of any RGB functionality.

Well you can actually take apart the switch and swap the springs and the ends. It won't technically be a blue switch but it will feel like one.

Lol that would take a long ass time, plus I'm sure the housings are different between switches to account for different springs and different actual switches.

It would be worth it if you wanted rgb with blue switches.

Also I know it is possible just not sure if it is with linear to tactile.

Let's ask @Charger shall we. He has swapped springs before so he should know if its possible or not.

yep should be able to swap the parts but I have yet to see someone do it with rgb so I will say in theory it should work

I kinda want to try this now. But screw buying a $180 keyboard just to get my hands on the rgb switches.

@TheProfosist was thinking about buying one of the new silent corsair keyboards for me to take the switches out but I dont think what he was going to do with it was going to work.
