Looking at getting a new computer for Fallout 4/ Star Citizens

Matt_Allensy

Since the announcement of Fallout 4 I have been looking at getting a new computer.  My current laptop I do not believe will run F4 well.

My comp. is a Dell Xps 15z laptop.  When DAI came out I ran but just barely.  I got a resolution and texture setting that worked but it was very pixely.

My goals in the new computer is I can run Fallout 4/Skyrim with a nice ENB. I also want to try and future proof my system so it can run Star Citizen Ok to Well.

Currently I have a few cases from old computers.

A Dimension E310 Dell Computer, HP Pavilion P6310y(Motherboard is dead), and a Compaq DC5700 Tower.  I also have two 1T Hard Drives.

From the research I have done I know I should buy a SSD for the operating system and the dedicated programs I want.

So say I have a credit card that has funds to 100 to 1,500 Dollars what could I do?

Ps: I got this thing where I plug the hard drives into a case that makes them into external drives and when I plug them in I get (C:) recovery/backup something along with the main drive memory profile is there a way to prevent that from popping up or hiding it in the computer screen?

what's your location?

so, you probably need everything from os, to monitor to keyboard and mouse?

it's alot better to buy the parts yourself and if you don't know much about pc's, ask or pay someone to put it together because from what i saw, even with $1000 you don't get a very good gaming system from a manufacturer like dell, hp or asus

i'm gonna make a pcpartpicker part list after you tell us where you live

AMD Athlon X4 750k; Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2; 8Gb Corsair XMS 1600 Mhz; AMD Hd5670 1Gb DDR3; Bequiet E6-600W; W7 Ultimate x64

So your max budget is $1500? Personally I wouldn't want to rack up your credit card too much.

ofcourse that things like peripherials might not suit everyone's taste but regarding them, you should choose the ones that appeal you the most

all the ones you picked were very shit, and will not run fallout 4 or star citizen very well or at all, for $1500 you could get a real good custom pc or a prebuilt one if you dont wanna build it your self

change out the 970 for a R9 390, much better bang for buck, and future proofing

If you don't have the money right now, don't buy it and wait till you do.  It's far better than a overcharged credit card or failing a payment.

Also, a great alternative to liquid cooling (within a degree or two) is a Cryorig H5 Universal + a XF140 for a dual fan setup.  It'll get you performance similar to the NH-D15 while remaining a quiet computer with an overall cost of $67ish

It keeps my i7 4790K at stock at 62C under the most intensive PRIME settings.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

the 390 and 970 are about equal in game benchmarks but just now I saw that the 390 has 8gb of ram

but even the "4" gb of the 970 will be enough for 1080p gaming

now it depends of the op. if he wants to game on a bigger resolution that 1080p he should get the 390 but if not the 970 is fine

we can both agree that n'either one would be a bad choice

I plan to wait until I have the money.  The credit card is a hypothetical and a range that I might save up to buy.

I actually, want to build it myself so I can learn. I am in Northern Central United States.

I plan to get windows ten and I have access to a unbound windows 8.1 right now from a school.  I think I might have a place that I can get a affordable Op other ways I plan to test it at some point.  If its bad ok I'm out 10 - 20 bucks.  http://www.reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap

I got a the monitor for the HP Pavillion which is nice for 20 bucks at a pawn show.  Keyboad and mouse There covered for the time being.

Also, I heard there is a issue of motherboards sometimes not fitting to cases. Specially, Company specific ones like I have..

I'm not so sure if 3.5GBs is enough for star citizen, and the R9 390 out preforms the 970 anyway
