Ram for skylake

Right so on intel's site it says you can use either ddr3l or ddr4. Does that mean regular ddr3 won't be compatible and I have to throw nerfed ram in my computer or buy ddr4 if I get a skylake cpu?

It will depend on the motherboard you purchase. Paul's Hardware did a great job of explaining it in one of his videos.

Most the boards will only be compatible with DDR4, but it is possible that some boards will use DDR3L. Note the "L". It's low voltage ram and I doubt you have that.

you WILL need low voltage ddr3 memory (or ddr4) for skylake. This is because the operating voltage of ddr4 is much lower than that of standard ddr3.

You would be better off just getting DDR4 over DDR3L
