Amd Switch To Intel What Should I Buy

So im switiching from AMD as i decided that waiting for Zen will not be worth it as Zen will possibly be shit liek most AMD CPU's

 

So As i currently have a AMD FX 8320 what is the best (cheapest) Intel Alternative.

 

I mainly play games but multit-task a lot with streaming videos and watching tv on my pc as well as light video editing and rendering and photo editing with ilustrator and photoshop

 

so im think a i5 (i dont want to spend more that £200 on the cpu so if you can get a i7 for that that would be sweet)

 

im looking at the Intel Core i5-4690K with a MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  along side it is this good option for what i need or can i do better?

You could go for a Xeon E3 1231v3. It's good for games, fits with the 1150 socket (Z97 chipset uses that socket) and has HT, so it works well for multitasking and editing/rendering.

4690K with that MBO is good combo but you could get cheaper MBO if you don't plan to SLI, but it looks good so you might get it anyway

Also even the cheapest haswell i5 should beat 8320 in most games.

There are Z170 boards that support DDR3L, but they're not very good. None of them support SLI (as far as I know), so there's no option for that in the future

Because AMD has worse performance than Intel.

4690K with that MBO is good combo but you could get cheaper MBO if you don't plan to SLI, but it looks good so you might get it anyway

I'm not gonna get skylake yet as I'm gonna leave that to when I do I new build December 2016 time so ill get the latest and ddr4 then so for now I just want to remove my amd trash lol as I'm fed up of it right so ur also miss understand what I ment by cheap I ment £300 max for MB and cpu so something like the i5-4690K which is £178 and the mb which is £80 so I wanna keep cost down so I don't want to hit £300 if I can help it but ye so if there is nothing better than what I have already said in that price range so cpu £200 max and mb £100 max (take in to account £10 over as that's nothing) so ye I will just buy what I found already

My advice would be to get something now that you plan to keep for several years. That could be either a Haswell Core i5 or a Skylake Core i5 depending on how much you're comfortable spending, but it would be a waste of money to "upgrade" from Haswell to Skylake. The performance difference just isn't there.

On amazon you can pick up OEM i7-4790ks for under £220, so if you already have a cooler you're set(OEM version comes without the heatsink/fan hence the cheaper price). Then you could get something like a MSI-Z97-G45 which uses the newer Z97 chipset for under £100. So its just slightly over your £300 budget, but if for an extra £10-£20 you can get a i7 over an i5... why not.

But I do not get why he wanna swap with DX12 around the corner(unless he wont get Windows 10) and the fact that its not that far behind unless he play some kinda game where it use 2 cores or worse... (4 cores is usable but you really want 6 or more like Cities Skyline & Witcher 3)

GTA V for some reason runs like shit so I am sure it uses 2 cores or is using 4 and demands way more than other games...

On a budget go with the i5-6600k.

If you can splurge for the i7-5820k I would get that instead.
