Windows Live movie maker / Windows Movie maker is not that bad if you just want to string a bunch of clips together. Anything between that and Adobe, Vegas etc I dont know.

Try Shotcut.

I've seen it recently, but haven't got around to using it.

Looks good IMO.

Free, open-source and cross-platform.

If it doesn't work for you, then Lightworks, Blender or Movie Maker.

Along with the other suggestions, I believe the free version of DaVinci Resolve does basic NLE functions in addition to its main focus, which is color grading.

"M. Aronnax." replied the Canadian, "your arguments are rotten at the foundation. You speak in the future, 'We shall be there! we shall be here!' I speak in the present, 'We are here, and we must profit by it.'"

Hello, LTT, What is the best, yet free Video Editing software? I'm only gonna want to use it for a little bit, but I dont want to have a watermark afterwards! Thanks

Hitfilm 3 Express is pretty powerful but from my experience of Hit film it has quite a steep learning curve. On the upside it's a great learning tool! After my experience with Hit film 2 express, Final Cut Pro was a doddle :)
