Do I need a sound card?

Go to solution Solved by LegendKillerRG,

I just found "MY" problem, I totally forgot I got virtual 7.1 enabled, i disabled it and the music sound more clear lol... 7.1 makes the music's bass "echo" but sounds louder than 2.0 but 2.0 makes music sound more clear... 7.1 surround sounds amazing in games but with music it's horrible...

For me differences from motherboard to soundcard was slighty 'better' more clear, bass sounds right. Anyways, try to check your audio driver and play with the settings.

It should make a difference. If you're paying extra for a sound card, it had better increase the quality of the sound. Unless of course you buy a really cheap one.

^ not always the case :P The Xonar DG i picked up fro $25 was leaps and bounds ahead of the onboard audio on  my P7P55. I have since retired that card though - as good as it was.

Its a little subjective. I personally own a Maximus V Formula, and on-board audio is pretty good. I plan on getting Corsair SP2500's so I'll need to get something like an Asus Xonar D2X for any noticeable difference.
