Weird Crysis 3 fps behaviour. With open firefox i getting boost 20 fps.

sew999

Hello. This is the strange thing what i saw in pc . Playing Crysis 3 without open FIREFOX browser i am getting 20 less fps. When i open FIREFOX i am getting 20 fps more. For example. Without opened firefox i am getting 100 fps. When i open FIREFOX and again run Crysis 3 i am getting 120 fps on the same place. Can somebody explain me this? This is so weird. Why FIREFOX giving me 20 fps boost? Oo

I am using latest drivers nvidia. Card is Inno Ichill 980 Ti OC.

Yeah i know its odd. I dont know why it is happening. With opened firefox ( with 5 sites ) i have 20 fps more and no fps drops.

Without opened firefox i am getting 20 fps less and random fps drops. Any ideas?

Makes no sense at all. What FPS Counter do you use?

Maybe your GPU clock is higher when firefox is running? I could see a GPU increasing frequency when it has more to do, or when it thinks it has more to do.

Are you absolutely sure you are actually getting an FPS boost? Have you done a proper test yet?

Does the FPS change if you turn firefox on/off when the game is already running? Could it be achieved with other browsers/programs, or just tabbing out of the game?

Firefox uses gpu acceleration for certain contents that's on a website. Maybe that's why you get more fps in Crysis 3.

Possibly your FPS counter is measuring the FPS of the firefox window, rather than crysis. This would explain it not dropping below 120.

The same problem was on my previous computer ( other components ) so its not hardware issue. On my previous cpu ( 3770K ) and previous graphic card ( 780 gtx ) i was get the same problem on Crysis 3.

And i am sure that fps counter measuring is in Crysis 3. When i run Crysis 3 with Firefox i am geting 120 fps in game ( the same spot ).

Then i exit game, run FIREFOX go to the same spot and i am getting 120 fps.+ no weird fps drops

change power settings in Nvidia control to "prefer maximum performance," if not already set to that.

Fraps is showing correct fps. I fell laggy when i have 100 fps and it drops to 30 fps on the same spots in game( this is without firefox ).
But when i exit game and then run firefox and then again run game i have 120 fps and no weird fps drops to 30 fps.
And like i say it on my previous pc the same situation was happened ( other gpu , cpu ) . So its not hardware issue.
I think its problem with timer resolution because mozilla forcing higher time resolution. What you think guys?
