Stuck when upgrading to windows 10

That13thGuy

Hello everybody,

I decided to upgrade to windows 10 and it had to restart for the first time, so it shuts off. I go make a sandwich as per usual when waiting for basicly anything and when I came back my two computer screens were in standby mode with my pc on. I can see the light of my drive flickering and it sounds like my pc is doing something but both my screen are now after 30 minutes still off; one is hdmi and the other vga. Can anyone help me solve this problem?!? I don't want to do anything and damage my pc but I'm kind of concerned...

Thanks in advance,

That13thGuy

Ok, this happened to me while I upgraded my desktop. Wait until the HDD access is not blinking or blinking very infrequently. It is likely that the installer didn't pick the right video out.

When I did this and rebooted my monitor turned on fine, you should be able to go into bios if you want, and if you boot into Windows you should get Windows 10 and it should be fine.

Also if you have an Nvidia card, make sure you get their Windows 10 driver ASAP

Git Gud.

I'd say wait. If tomorrow it's still there, then we have a problem.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

So what I should do is just power my pc off and power it on again, right? Btw like I said it's only the first time it has to reboot so it might not be finished yet but we'll see.

EDIT: so I did that and now the hard drive is doing stuff again yet nothing else has changed....

If the hdd led is blinking it's definitely doing SOMETHING. Let it do its thing for a few hours, you need patience with these things.
