Does 970 still have the vram problem? Will it be able to keep up with games for at least 2 to 3 years from now?

This is vary vague, yes it still has the memory issue, its not a big deal. It would help to know what type of games you play, that would help us give you advice for the future, tho none of us can predict the future any better than one another.

I play at 1440p with a single 970.

Never encountered any vram issues.

Not even with games that use 100% for caching like Cod:Aw or Titanfall.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

If your playing games at 1080p it will be fine. And the vRAM 'problem' isn't always noticeable even when your nearly using all 4GB, it mainly depends on the settings and texture resolution. And since the GTX 970 is a first generation DirectX 12 card, only expect it to be best at playing DirectX 11 games at 1080p. If any previous experiences with new DirectX versions is anything to go by, the first cards always have issues.

I think they have made some changes in the optimization. But tbh it wasn't an issue in the first place, it was just dramatized by tech media and misinformed PCMR members who didn't really understand the issue in the first place.

you should really get a 980 if you want to do 1440 max, 970 was really built for maxing out 1080p

As the VRAM issue with the 970 really shines brightest with Advanced Warfare.

They can't fixed it because that's how they designed the GTX970 but they can optimize it thru driver/software.

I remember Dying Light was a stutter fest at 1080p early this year but not anymore after a few driver updates.

If you really want a card that will be good for 2-3 years, get an R9 390. While i do believe the 970 is a great card (i have one), the truth is no one knows what will be the main reason to upgrade, i can assure you that people upgrading from the 600 and 700 series to the 900 didn't do it over vram, the GPU was simply put, no longer what it was when they bought it at the eyes of the market and videogames developers. I am recomending the 390 for now since it makes sense, has a metric fuck ton of vram, is pretty damn powerful for it's price range and most importantly, it's beating the 970 at a lower price.

Really??? Anywhere in the world the R9 390 should be cheaper than a 970, even here in chile...

Then get a 970, it's gonna last you 2-3 years, and with good performance, not a good idea to get a weaker GPU like the 960 for more vram, usually the GPU iitself it's what get's replaced, i haven't heard nearly as many cases of people upgrading cause they are hitting Vram limits, it's just not a common ocurrance

I though you're from Malaysia? Last time i checked the 390 is cheaper than a good 970 unless you talking about reference 970 which price is similar or slightly lower than a 390.

Btw, i got a friend selling used Sapphire R9-290x Vapor-X for RM1,050 which is still under warranty because he got himself a Fury X.

Buy that 290X!!! It's your best option, and sapphire cards are the best for AMD.
