F1 key is stuck.

Firstly

You could use Autohotkey and make a macro.

f1::Return

The macro would be active (and thus f1 disabled) as long as Autohotkey was active in your system tray

Secondly

You could also use Sharpkeys to remap it / turn it off

Open Sharpkeys, Click add.

On the left side click the 'type key' button and press F1

On the right hand side select 'Turn Key Off' then click okay.

Write to Registry, reboot.  It should not do anything anymore.

To get it back just turn it back on and write to registry.

Hey guys, new member of the forum here so be gentle. :P

Having a problem with my laptop, the F1 key seems to be stuck, it's not pressed but every time I open a program the "Help" feature pops up which is quite annoying. If I close it, it just opens up again. Also since the F1 key is jammed this makes it a lot harder to switch programs sometimes. Even in the Bios the help feature comes up.

I was wondering if there was any way I could disable the F1 key altogether? I don't need it. Had this problem in 8.1 but I thought migrating to Windows 10 would resolve the issue, it hasn't.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Try taking off the keycap and cleaning it. If that doesn't work you need a keyboard replacement.

hammer method: ram it a few times, if its the switch physically being stuck it might come loose.

EDIT: i heard leaving the keyboard in a tub of water overnight, and then letting it dry out in rice for a good week might do the trick as well.

Cheers for the replies.

I cleaned the key tbh, highly doubt it's a hardware problem. Even if it is I'd rather solve it by making the F1 key redundant altogether.

Any way I can manage that?
