I recently built a PC, and I love it overall, but the stock intel CPU cooler is a bit loud. Because of this, I have been looking at aftermarket CPU coolers. The case in my build is a corsair air 240, which has around 120mm of cooler clearance (some sources say a bit higher, but its good to play it safe). My full current build is here, if you need it. Because my CPU is a xeon 1231v3, I can't overclock, so the performance doesn't need to be extremely good. I really care about aesthetics, so I want either a blue or black cooler, so that it matches my build. I've looked at a few coolers and the following ones stood out.

  1. Be quiet! shadow rock LP: This one look great in general. It performs fine, is easy to install, and is cheap, but it has copper heatpipes and raw aluminium fins, which don't look that nice. I would definitely get this if it looked nicer.
  2. Be quiet! dark rock TF: This one looks great and performs really well, but it is harder to install, costs more, and I would need to remove the top fan for it to fit in my case.
  3. Phanteks PH-TC14CS_BL: This ones looks good, perform great, and is decently priced, but would be harder to install and I would need to remove the top fan for it to fit in my case. I'm also not sure how the white fan edges would look, as my build is all blue and black now, and white may not look great.
  4. CoolerMaster nepton 240m; This one would perform the best and would be easy to install, but costs a lot more, would be louder, and I don't think it would look amazing.

Which is the best? Also, if you have other suggestions, feel free to post them.

Really low profile coolers are Noctua NH-L9i and Cryorig C1

Noctua NH-L9i and Cryorig C1 should be considered

I'll look at the c1, but I really don't like the look of noctua fans.

I'm not too sure about the NH-L9i, it's rated for a max TDP of 65 watts and the Xeon OP is using is 80 watts.

So you're looking for a cooler with a max height of 120mm, but then you include the Dark Rock TF and TC14PE on your list, with heights of 130.8mm and 171.0mm respectively? I'm not sure I get that one. Even if you meant the TC14CS instead of the TC14PE (which isn't low-profile in any way), that one still stands 140.5mm tall.

Well I meant to have the Phanteks PH-TC14CS, not the TC14PE. Also, you can remove the top fan from the dark rock TF to make it fit, which I explicitly stated.

Quite. Sorry about not reading that as thoroughly as I should have. Anyway, given that both the TC14CS and the Dark Rock TF would have to have their top fan removed, I'd go with the Phanteks, because of its beautiful blue heatsink, and just because I'm very impressed with Phanteks' products in general. If the white edges on the fans are an excessive annoyance, you could always replace the fan, even with Phanteks' own F140XP, which is more sensibly black with white fins.

Anybody else have suggestions? I've also found the Phanteks PH-TC12LS which seems to be perfect besides that the white fan may be a bit strange looking.
